Permanent Hair Removal – Guaranteed!!
What is electrolysis?
Simply put, electrolysis is permanent hair removal.
How does it work?
In order to permanently destroy hair, the root must be disabled. An expert electrologist glides a tiny, sterile filament into the hair follicle. Then a gentle pulse of heat and/or electricity is applied to the root of the hair, disabling it.
Each hair is removed during the session, leaving you with an immediately smoother, cleaner look. Our bodies grow hair in cycles over many weeks and months, so a series of treatments is needed for permanent results. Because of its incredible precision, electrolysis is deemed permanent by the FDA and the AMA.
What will it feel like?
Most patients experience minimal discomfort, as an expert electrologist is able to tailor treatments to accommodate different sensitivity levels. Topical anesthetics are available if needed.
How will I look like after my treatment?
You will have less hair! There will be some irritation immediately after treatment, but healing is actually quite rapid. Our office will apply cold therapy and soothing topicals to the treatment area. Many patients have a treatment and go right back to the office!
How do I care for my skin at home?
Your electrologist will instruct you as to the appropriate home care for your particular skin type. In general, a little TLC is all you need. It is advisable to avoid steam rooms, sunbathing or professional skin treatments for a couple of days. If you are using any prescription products from your dermatologist, you will probably be instructed to avoid using them on the treatment area for a day or two.
How does it differ from laser hair removal?
Laser is the most modern technique in hair removal. It can disable multiple follicles in a millisecond. For the right candidate, it is truly an amazing solution to unwanted hair. It is different from electrolysis, however, in that there is a slightly narrower range of skin and hair types that will respond with a high degree of permanency. Laser is a special light that is attracted to color. Darker, coarser hair will absorb the light and become disabled. Because the laser light depends on the hair itself to deliver the energy, the results can be variable. The color of the hair has to be dark from root to tip, and the hair has to be thick enough to carry the energy all the way to its root. Evaluating the hair color correctly is crucial to determining how successful the laser hair removal will be for you. An expert electrologist can evaluate you properly and determine which modality is best for you. Often your treatment plan will begin with Laser to eliminate the darkest hairs, and then and electrolysis will be used to complete a permanent removal.
How safe is electrolysis?
When performed by an expert electrologist, it is safe for all hair and skin types. Needles are sterile and disposable. All treatments and sterilization procedures are conducted with strict adherence to CDC guidelines.
